A little about us

We're Queensland Cotton, part of Olam Agri – a global market-leading agribusiness operating in more than 30 countries. We're driven by our purpose to transform food, feed and fibre for a more sustainable future and guided by our values of Entrepreneurial, Agile, Resourceful, Collaborative and Sustainable. In Australia, we operate across a diverse portfolio including cotton, cottonseed and feed grains, as well as rice and we’re poised for growth.

About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an HR Business Partner to support Olam Agri’s Australian operations. This hands-on role suits someone who enjoys being close to the action — partnering with leaders and supporting employees across regional and operational sites. You'll cover the full employee lifecycle — recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, performance, engagement and retention — alongside employee relations, employee experience and the day-to-day people matters that keep sites running. You'll be well supported, working alongside an experienced leadership team.

No two days are the same. One day you might coach a leader through a people matter; the next you could visit a site, support a visa or relocation, keep documentation and compliance on track, lead an internal comms campaign or EVP video shoot, run a post-change check-in, or use HR data to spot an issue early. You’ll also contribute to HR projects and process improvements, with opportunities to tap into Olam Agri's global HR network and get involved in global initiatives when time permits.

A little about you

It's attitude, style, and capability rather than years that count here — so you might be an experienced practitioner in a similar role looking for a side-step in the agricultural industry, or an Advisor in a smaller business ready for a step up. Ideally, you'll have worked in an operational environment such as agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, mining or construction. You bring commercial thinking and the confidence to balance big-picture priorities with operational detail, with a good sense of when to lean on technology and when a human-led approach matters. You naturally look beyond your own role to support the broader business — and you bring high integrity, and good energy.

Ideally you will bring

  • Generalist HR experience across all facets of HR and sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation and workplace practices.
  • Excellent communication, strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, sound judgement and problem-solving abilities.
  • Digital literacy, with comfort using HR systems and data to support better decisions and simpler ways of working.
  • Experience with acquisitions, integration or business growth is highly regarded as we scale in Australia — experience with visas and using Success Factors recruitment and onboarding modules is a bonus, but not essential.
